Another structure fire in Keremeos reported by the local Fire Department at 1.26 a.m.
The latest blaze broke out near the intersection of 7th Avenue and 6th Street.
It tore through an older building that sat between the government liquor store and Berg’s Ox Yoke collectables, both of which suffered smoke damage. (This is on Main Street Keremeos – Hwy 3)
The fire proved difficult to attack as it got into the attic space of the building, which had to be demolished.
There were no injuries and the cause of the fire had yet to be determined, but it is not believed to be suspicious. It may have started in the apartment at the rear. The occupant got out safely.
A fire broke out Saturday night at the Riverbed Bistro, nearby, causing extensive damage to the top floor of the building – that one is being investigated.
