Traffic advisory: rock slide 8-9 kilometers west of Standing Rock, between Keremeos and Hedley on Highway 3
RCMP are reporting three vehicles were involved in the incident and one female was transported to hospital, but injuries were not life threatening.
The slide, at noon Monday, closed Highway 3 in both directions. It is estimated to be 150 metres wide, including rocks of all shapes and sizes, including boulders the size of a truck, according to eyewitnesses.
It is unknown when the highway will be reopened. An assessment as to the stability of the mountain is taking place.
Motoring public are asked to use an alternate route.
There are reports that three vehicles were caught in the slide and one person has been taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
The slide is reportedly 150 meters wide, and witnesses have said some of the boulders are the size of a truck.
The slide area will need to be stabilized before traffic can resume.
