The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen wants to have a discussion with South Okanagan farmers — specifically those in the Osoyoos area.
RDOS will be attending the Growers Supply Spring Horticulture Conference in Oliver February 4, looking for input on proposed changes to Area “A” Zoning and Official Community Plan bylaws that have come in the aftermath of an Agricultural Plan prepared for the Regional District and Town of Osoyoos.
“The changes relate to creating stronger policies to protect agricultural land for farming, changes to farm gate sales, agri-tourism accommodation, housing on farms and parcel coverage for greenhouses,” explained Development Services Manager Donna Butler.
“We’re very interested in what South Okanagan farmers have to say about these issues.”
The Regional District will have a booth at the Growers Supply conference to provide information and survey local farmers. People who stop by the booth and fill out a survey will be eligible to win a $50 gift certificate from Growers Supply.
