The Corporate Services Committee welcomed MP Dan Albas for a visit to discuss shared issues of concern, including changes to medical marijuana regulations, federal grant opportunities, reduction in Canada Post service and First Nations Addition to Reserve legislation.

The Board of Directors received as information a Regional Snapshot document that tracks the implementation of the 2007 Sub-regional Growth Strategy. The snapshot is a collection of performance indicators that can be used to show trends and conditions. This is the fourth year a Regional Snapshot was produced for the Board of Directors.

The Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association’s Simone Carlysle-Smith provided the Regional District with an opportunity to participate in a community tourism development program. The Board of Directors voted to form an ad hoc committee to work with the tourism association on this program.

The Board of Directors approved a motion to support a provincial investigative permit allowing the temporary erection of meteorological towers within Electoral Area “F” provided the operator, SB Hedley Holdings Corporation, obtained a Temporary Use Permit from the Regional District prior to development.
