Town Council and Rural Area C Director did not waste time agreeing to limit the 2014 budget for operating the Frank Venables Theatre to $60 thousand.

The Theatre is scheduled to open to an event late in February and the School Board is taking bookings until a management group can get up and running.

The gist of the discussions are the following:

School Board, RDOS and Town each gave $10,000 grant in aide in 2013 as seed money to get the process going.

Now the Town and Rural Area C have agreed to fund another $15000 each for a total of $60 on the basis of a budget given to the funding parties.

The Oliver Theatre Society will be formed as soon as possible as a legal entity, a RDOS bylaw will be needed to create a joint services agreement to raise funds in perpetuity once assent is given in a referendum in November.

Utilimately The Theatre Society will sign an agreement with the School Board, Town and RDOS which will be the agreed to operating rules that cover such things as usage by the community, the school  and entertainment groups booking from outside the area.
