RCMP and the BC Coroner’s Office have confirmed that one of two people injured in the Osoyoos house fire died Saturday.
The man was flown to Kelowna Hospital Friday by air ambulance and is in stable condition.
52 year old Delene Hunter of Osoyoos has been identified* and next of kin notified.
No information as to the cause of the fire has been release. The fire at 8703 – 92nd Avenue is a duplex and the blaze was centered at the north front of the building.
Osoyoos Fire Chief Rick Jones stated that when he arrived on the scene the fire was burning out the front, and the man and woman were outside in the front. They were both badly burned, with local residents looking after them.
They were transported from the scene by BC Ambulance.
It was a hectic scene at South Okanagan General Hospital in Oliver, as paramedics dealt with the two burn victims and another medical emergency.
Next door neighbour Edgar Scheer, said the flames were so high, that firefighters asked him to leave his home.
He described the couple as nice people and good neighbours.
