I am happy to announce that I’m seeking the NDP nomination for the South Okanagan-West Kootenay riding in the 2015 federal election. As someone who was born and raised here, and raised my own family here, I care deeply about the future of this region.
It’s fair to say that many of us haven’t been happy with the direction Canada has been taken over the past decade. The Harper government has waged war on democracy, science and the working people of Canada. I think the people of South Okanagan-West Kootenay are looking for new approaches and ideas for a better future. I could bring a fresh and informed perspective to parliament.
What can I offer you? I know and understand British Columbia. I have worked as a professional biologist in BC for over 30 years, much of it in this region. Through my years on the BC Environmental Appeal Board and the BC Forest Appeals Commission, I have heard the stories of many concerned citizens, businesses and organizations across the province. As a board member of the Nature Conservancy of Canada, I help guide an organization with assets worth a half-billion dollars and an annual budget of 100 million dollars.
I would be honoured to carry the NDP banner for the people of South Okanagan-West Kootenay. Together we can make a real difference!
