1. Post on pop-ups – I think this item is now “under the sheets” as the person who reported the problem now says it was his computer. Another gentleman stopped me at the PO and told me he had the same problem some time ago and it was the “bugs” that get into your computer. My advice try not to download free stuff, apps, programs etc. – nothing is free and sometimes it can cost you a lot of frustration.
2. Pictures – most readers really appreciate the photographs and the quality of many contributions. Please let me know where you took the picture and when. As a rule I do not favour publishing photographs taken in far off places – no matter how good they are. This is a current and local blog that wants to reflect “the here and the now”. Once again thanks to photographers up and down the valley for all their help and support.
3. In the last week I have spent a lot of dollars restoring something that existed back in 2010 but was not thought necessary in “sleepy” Oliver. All comments are now moderated. That means I must now push a button before comments and ads in the free section get on. You may notice a short delay.
The essential rule remains – use both first and last names – If you don’t see your comment or free ad you should do it again with two names. It is too time consuming to notify any person who cannot or will not live by this simple rule. Based on my review of sites like the daily newspapers and even CBC – I am proud to say we have readers that are fully accountable for what they say and no one can be anonymous on ODN. Take some credit folks this is truly outstanding. Another reminder to not use links to websites (something that we get paid for).
4. The Osoyoos blog owned by Brian Highley with the able assistance of Andrea Flexhaug is coming along and I am happy to be associated with OK Sun Magazine and Osoyoos Daily News. Another project is underway in the South Okanagan that will add to our collection of news sources. More on that in February.
5. Finally I want to thank the SO Chamber of Commerce for a nomination of Entrepreneur of the Year. Who ever wins should be congratulated. Like other awards – it is appreciated the most when nominated in the first place and the ‘dawn to dusk’ efforts are noticed.
