Okanagan Connector – Merritt to Kelowna issued
Snowfalls expected tonight and Friday evening.
A warm front moving onto the South Coast will bring snow to the southern highway passes tonight. Snowfall amounts up to 20 cm are forecast for the Coquihalla summit and 10 to 15 cm for Allison Pass and Paulson Summit. Snow will ease Friday morning.
A second and more intense storm system will move onto the British Columbia coast late Friday. This will bring another heavy snowfall to the mountain passes. Snowfall amounts of about 20 cm except 30 cm near the Coquihalla summit are forecast. Over southern passes, snow levels are expected to rise to near 1400 metres and then fall again to near 1000 metres by early Saturday.
