On Thursday Rural and Municipal Directors at the RDOS will give 1st reading to a budget bylaw that will allow the organization to function, take financial documents to the people, and return for further readings/passage in late March.
In a document released today the Regional District Okanagan-Similkameen would like to send out tax requisitions in the amount of 13.93 million dollars up 4.85%
The total budget which includes borrowing, expenditures from reserves and fees collected will amount to 27.72 million – up about a half of one percent.
Locally the Town of Oliver’s requisition will increase by 14.59% while the Area C (Rural Oliver) requisition would rise 10.35%.
The total tax requisition for those two: $2,458,739
The requisition hike in Oliver (rural and town) is for operations of the Venables Theatre.
Directors have had three meetings to slash proposed spending and cut about $425,000 so far.
The public will be engaged on these issues between January 6th and February 14th with a serious of presentations to municipalities and public meetings in rural areas.
