Shreddies has received so many nominations in their SEARCH FOR GOODNESS contest – and narrowed it down to a shortlist of five Canadians who spread goodness in their communities.

Wherever help is needed in Oliver you’ll find George. He spends his life spreading goodness in so many ways, but what’s really special is the time and effort he devotes to growing fresh vegetables for others. Last year, he donated 1800lbs of veggies to the food bank. In the winter months, he delivers food prepared from his garden harvest to the local soup kitchen.
“Diane and George are the best people in this community and our church. Diane runs a soup and sandwich kitchen once a week in the winter. George is the designated, “Anyone needs a ride” guy if you are stuck for a ride to Dr.’s appointments, etc. In our small community, I would estimate 6/10 people here have personally had their lives touched by this couple, have donated to them, as they are always collecting donations for some need in our community. Any fundraiser, any volunteer function, there will be George and Diane I can almost guarantee it. Anywhere help is needed, they always seem to show up. The drive behind our church functions, fundraisers and our luncheons, there’s Diane. How did she find these people? For years she was our local cosmetics and gifts home sales lady. She’d see someone in need, quietly make note, and go about doing good. She’s had to retire from that so she can direct more of their time to, you guessed it, doing good. They are just giving people, extending a hug, smile, and help where needed. This is my way of saying thank you, and to recognize what they do.”

Shreddies believes that there’s genuine goodness inside every Canadian.
Canadians were asked to nominate someone from their family, friends or community who spreads genuine goodness by going above and beyond to make a difference in the lives of many.
Whether it’s lending a hand at a local soup kitchen or the hockey arena, a little help goes a long way.
Canadians will be asked to vote on the story they believe should be shared across the country. Each genuinely good person will be featured with a voting page that will include their story. Shreddies believes it’s the least it can do to show thanks for all the goodness these people bring to others. The selected story will be announced in March 2014 and will be told in a Shreddies’ national television spot.
