School student transportation was confusing in Keremeos and Cawston this morning after keys for buses were stolen from the School District garage. The break-in discovered at 6:15 a.m.
School District 53 Superintendent Bev Young told trustee tonight at a board meeting the garage was broken into sometime overnight, and all the keys were stolen along with a majority of the tools stored there.
A school district vehicle was also taken from the Keremeos bus garage, she said. It has been recovered. It was a utility vehicle with a well equipped tool box.
Buses from Oliver and Osoyoos were brought in to help out in the afternoon but in the morning parents were left with the job of transporting students.
The district may have to replace ignitions in all the buses if the keys are not found.
RCMP are investigating.
