The South Okanagan Figure Skating Club may be small but they are proud. This past weekend in Winfield an InterClub competition was held with over 280 skaters competing in over 30 categories.
Oliver BC’s Molly Koenig represented the club at this annual event. Molly competed in Star 3, requiring her to complete 5 jumps, 2 spins, and a spiral sequence. After a successful 90 second program Molly received a silver medal in her group and represented the South Okanagan club well.
Hosted by the Winfield Figure Skating Club this competition changes location every year and receives entrants from Williams Lake, Grand Forks, Kamloops and all up and down the Okanagan Valley. The South Okanagan club hopes to hold this great local competition in coming years.
Molly is among the dozen or so boys and girls that are coming up through the Star levels to earn their spot in their own competitions. The South Okanagan Skating Club currently assists over 50 families in their CanSkate learn to skate program and other programs sanctioned by Skate Canada. To learn more about the skating club, the upcoming 2014 winter schedule starting January 6th or available programs please contact the President of the club, Robin Koenig at 250 498-4049.
