Seems there may be a move afoot to get organized as a number of residents and business owners are upset in the Gallagher Lake area. Organizers have planned a village council meeting for next Monday in a beer parlour.
RDOS Director Allan Patton says he heard about the meeting but was not invited.
Gathering at 11am at Ye Olde Welcome Inn designed to hear complaints.
The owner of the shop pictured above Scott Hutchinson is one of the organizers and has concerns about the Highway Passing Lanes and the new business frontage road recently paved over after a sewer and water pipe installation was completed.
Patton says he met with a group of 10 persons for several hours recently and had to endure a yelling and screaming match. His response is to tell everyone in Gallagher Lake that there is a process for improvements in the area. It is called a community plan review and that will be done in the spring of 2014. He stated he found a lot of the people he met are “against anything and everything”.
Patton says he indeed wants to hear people’s concerns but not really about projects that are now complete and serve to enhance the area.
Patton says the passing lanes were a project of the Ministry of Highway and the sewer project brings a resource for persons on the west side of the highway and is paid for primarily by Deer Park Estates – north of the bridge.
Patton agrees with concerns about the speed/safety issues on the highway south from the bridge and they should be dealt with by the Ministry.
