4:57 AM fire call

8 people treated after fire at a six storey apartment building on Winnipeg Street at Wade Avenue West in Penticton Wednesday morning.

Smoking in bed caused the fire with a cigarette igniting bedding. Female tenant removed from a 2nd floor apartment and off to hospital. Quick response from fire fighters situated just blocks away.

The *woman suffered burns and other tenants smoke inhalation.

8:15 PM – 911 call –  After dark, a light truck with two persons on board drove into Skaha Lake but did not need to be rescued as the man and *woman were on shore when emergency vehicles arrived.

Channel Parkway at Skaha Lake turnoff. Truck proceeding southbound.

Cause unknown – This “T” intersection is hard to miss if you are concentrating on the drive.
