Six years ago an assets review in Osoyoos highlighted the need to relocate the fire/rescue department to a more suitable site where a new fire hall could be constructed to meet the growing needs of the Town and Rural Fire Protection District and the Osoyoos Indian Band.
KMBR ARCHITECTS PLANNERS INC. was commissioned by the Town of Osoyoos to produce a Pre-Design and Needs Assessment Study for a new fire hall recently.
The proposed site for the new fire hall is located on 74th Avenue near the intersection with Highway 97. Construction costs of the new fire hall are approximately 4.5 million dollars.
The Town of Osoyoos plan:
“Council confirms that voter assent on construction of the fire hall building be sought through a referendum process to be scheduled for 2014, following the May long weekend and no later than June 30th.”
Public information sessions and updates will be made prior to the referendum to ensure that the public is able to make an informed decision on the borrowing bylaw.
