On November 10th, at 11:56 pm, an Osoyoos RCMP Officer observed a Grey BMW blow through a stop sign at the intersection of Main and 87th St. The officer drove to Hwy 3 and observed the same vehicle go through the stop sign at Meadowlark Dr and Hwy 3 as well. The Police officer activated his emergency lights and siren to stop the BMW which bore BC License plate 106XPD. The BMW did not stop and drove a short distance and turning onto Strawberry Creek Rd. The BMW then turned onto an off-road path and the Police Officer stopped his attempt to pull the vehicle over. The Police investigation into this Failing to Stop for Police incident is still under investigation for charges.
On November 11th, at approximately 8:12 pm, an RCMP Member on patrol saw a truck leaving the Owl liquor store and noted that the associated registered owner did not have a valid driver’s license. The truck was stopped and the unlicensed driver was found to have been drinking as well. As a result the 85 year old Osoyoos man was required to provide breath samples for analysis and subsequently received a 3-day Immediate Driving Prohibition and vehicle impound.
On November 13th, at 03:19 am, Police were called out to a report of a structure fire at on Alkali Rd. This area does not have fire protection. A neighbour noted a large structure on fire next to the residence on the property and had called the owner who did not answer the phone. The Police officer utilized the Police car siren and woke the single occupant of the house. The Police officer then assisted the elderly man to turn on the sprinkler system and use a garden hose to keep the fire from spreading to the nearby house. The fire is thought to have started from a floor heater left on inside the detached structure.
On November 16th, it was reported to Police that overnight diesel fuel had been stolen from a bulk storage tank. This is the 3rd theft of diesel fuel since September 16 when a trailer and diesel tidy tank were stolen from a locked compound. The stolen trailer and tidy tank have not yet been recovered and a photo of them is attached. On November 17th, just after midnight, an Osoyoos Police Officer on patrol noted a vehicle travelling east on Main St with the passenger side mirror of the vehicle dangling, by its wires. The officer stopped the vehicle and noted signs of alcohol impairment from the driver. The driver was required to provide breath samples as part of an impaired driving investigation which resulted in the 21 year old female driver receiving a 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition and her vehicle was impounded for 30 days
