Kristine Jack above cooked a food feast for First Nations students attending SOSS today. There are 84 such students at the Oliver High School. The meal started with a prayer of thanks to the creator. Kristine talked a little about her early period of the “gathering” when adults and elders gathered berries, hunted deer and elk, fished the rivers and looked for roots. She stated that not as much of that going on in the present as in the past.
Below Kali Gabriel-Baptiste and Kassandra Kruger. Kali sits on an advisory group for the Aboriginal Program and says she very much enjoys the resource that is available, drums, a place to get away, education assistants that can help and relate to problems and learning roadblocks.
