Fire kills Penticton woman – 2nd fire fatality of the year

Thursday at 2:31 pm Penticton Fire Department responded to a structure fire near Yorkton and Hemlock in the south part of the city.

An 81-year-old woman has died in a mobile home fire in Penticton.

The home Unit 18 – in Figueira’s Mobile Home Park on Yorkton Avenue destroyed by fire Thursday afternoon.

Neighbours who gathered nearby to watch the flurry of the activity, said they believed the woman lived there with her husband. fire penticton222

A resident, who said she has been coming to the park for 35 years, said she had never seen a mobile home go up in flames like that at the location.

Cause of fire unknown – police and fire investigating.
