“Well the results of good airport planning over the years is evident as we continue to see a resurgence of jet aircraft in Oliver such as this Cessna Citation Ultra yesterday. It is owned by an Alberta company from Water Valley and was here with Hester Creek executives.
There are a lot of turbo prop aircraft that use the Oliver airport on a regular basis such as the Beechcraft King Air of various models up to the 350; Beechcraft 1900’s which are used for commercial airlines; Cessna Conquest; Pilatus PC-12; Piper Cheyenne. The use by pure jet or turbo-fan like this one are a little more rare and under ideal conditions. This one stopped pretty fast with it’s thrust reversers leaving about 1,000 feet of runway left to taxi to the end and turn around.
It was also off the ground in approx. 2,000 feet We have had numerous jets like the Citation of different models and the Mustang, Learjet 35’s, but conditions have to be more correct for safe operation. It is up to the pilot to decide based on the aircraft operating handbook.
