OLIVER AMBASSADOR SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT 2013 CONTINUES HER STUDIES IN CALGARY
Nikki Brar, Oliver Ambassador 2011-2012
Being an ambassador for the town of Oliver was an amazing opportunity and an honor that will always be a part of me. The hardest part of moving to the city for post secondary education was moving away from the small, close knit community which I loved being a part of. In September, I started my first year of post secondary education at the University of Calgary. I am doing my undergrad degree in the Bachelor of Arts with a major in psychology. As everyone knows, post secondary can be very expensive, however scholarships have helped me tremendously with this cost, including the Oliver Ambassador Scholarship. Receiving this scholarship at the end of my reign, after I graduated, meant a lot more to me than just receiving the money. I felt honored to have had the opportunity to represent my town. I felt a sense of pride for serving the town on behalf of the youth. Costs of post secondary education can definitely add up quickly, and this scholarship definitely lifted some of the weight off my shoulders! Thank you to the Oliver Ambassador Program for provided me with this assistance! I am so thankful!
