Judge Gregory Korturbash handed down a sentence today in Provincial Court.
Pat Pugsley had been convicted of failing to file an income tax form from 1995 to 2008
He was ordered to file his T1 forms for those years forthwith and given 14 months to pay the fine.
During the sentencing proceeding Pugsley asked the judge if he was shaking. Judge Koturbush had been asking (repeatedly) Do you need time to pay?
Pugsley told the judge he had lived in Oliver for 20 years – employed as a farmer and a carpenter. He said he kept no financial records, paid in cash, and had no bank accounts.
Once the sentence was meted out Pugsley left the building but the court called him back but he was gone. Was the sentence complete?
