Trustees heard a brief report on conversations held in Osoyoos on the use of treatment plant effluent on school fields.
Interior Health Authority (IHA) says they really don’t have a problem with it and now it becomes a cost issue… or a set of negotiations on who pays.
In both Oliver and Osoyoos – there is a fair amount of treated water that is available but the School Board would be interested in reducing their costs of irrigation and the installation of new piping and pumping if necessary.
Operations Manager Mitch Van Aller told trustees to expect a full report to them on this issue and one suggestion would be a district wide policy on the matter as a first step in this process.
