Ten adults from Oliver will depart November 3rd for a one week visit to Bandai Japan Oliver’s sister city.
2013 marks the 25th anniversary of our relationship. It was in 1988 that the Province asked community’s if they wished to take part in this relationship.
Oliver was matched with a farming community of similar size. Over the years many adults and students have participated in hosting guests or in turn have spent time as guests of Bandai. Those who have participated have always come away feeling more worldly, richer in global knowledge and usually genuinely overwhelmed by how our Japanese sister city takes on the responsibility of committing to this relationship.
Oliver guests will be offered guided sightseeing, shopping and cultural opportunities. Bandai will also host a party to celebrate our 25th anniversary. It should be noted that all expenses including travel have been paid for by the participants.
Oliver hopes to send a delegation of students in 2014 with the support of our Sister City budget.
