The United Food and Commercial Workers Union reached an agreement with the management of B.C. Tree Fruits Co-operative with a new seven-year contract it was announced today.
The new contract impacts over 400 workers across the Okanagan.
From September 30th to October 2nd, workers voted on the agreement at various meetings across the Okanagan, ultimately ratifying the new deal.
Details of the agreement have not been released as the contract is still being drawn up. However, the framework is there and the BCTF is certainly pleased with the news.
“It is exciting to announce the conclusion of an agreement that provides long-service employees the opportunity to continue their contracts with the co-operative.” says BC Tree Fruits.
