19 year old Stephan Wesley Daoust appeared in Penticton Provincial Court Wednesday on three criminal charges in connection with an incident September 7th in Oliver.
The three charges:
267 (a) CCC – Assault with a weapon
348.1 (b) CCC – Breaking and Entering to commit an offence
88.1 CCC – Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public
Police report:
On Sunday September 8th just after midnight Oliver RCMP were notified of a suspicious occurrence at a residence located in the 600 block of Earle Crescent.
The owner of a home contacted emergency services to report that someone had sprayed an irritating substance inside her residence in the late hours of Saturday.
Initial scene investigation resulted in the location of a canister of Bear Spray, wrapped in electrical tape, in close proximity to the residence. The 59 year old occupant was subsequently treated by a BC Ambulance crew for exposure to the Bear Spray and taken to hospital.
Investigation resulted in the arrest of an adult teenager who lives in Oliver.The suspect appeared before a Justice of the Peace the same night and was released on an undertaking.
At a Wednesday court hearing, both the crown and the defence said they would work towards a court supervised diversion program under the watchful eye of Community Corrections – Probation.
Daoust appeared in the court room, said nothing, and was asked to return to court in two weeks.
