Currently 60 per cent of South Okanagan residents fly from airports other than Penticton Regional Airport.
“Support Local” is taking to the air with a new “Fly Local” campaign launched by Air Canada and the City of Penticton.
The campaign features billboards placed strategically on Highway 97 that aim to generate more demand for flights from the local airport.
“The more traffic Penticton Regional Airport receives, the stronger the business case for increased services,” says Mayor Garry Litke.
The billboards will target both the travelling public, informing them of flights available in Penticton, but will also specifically encourage bookings from local residents. Air Canada currently offers three daily flights to and from Vancouver via Penticton Regional Airport
