On September 13th, 2013 at about 8:15 pm, an RCMP Traffic Services member on patrol observed a 2008 Ford truck doing a burnout on Highway 3 near Cottonwood Drive. As the Police officer tried to stop the truck the driver drove quickly through a nearby hotel parking lot where the truck crashed into a picnic table and stopped. The 23 year old man from West Kelowna was arrested and faces criminal charges of Impaired Driving, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, and Provincial charges for No Drivers License, Open Liquor in a motor Vehicle, and Drive Contrary to Restriction. The man’s truck was impounded for 7 days for stunting
On September 16th, 2013 it was found that thieves had stolen a red 100
gallon fuel tank and u-built trailer from the Osoyoos Golf Club
sometime over night. The trailer is black with small golf cart style tires. If anyone has seen this type of trailer or fuel tank please call the Osoyoos RCMP at (250) 495-7236 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
On September 16th, 2013 at 9:37 pm, Police assisted the Osoyoos Fire Department at a motorhome fire at 11604-97th St. The empty motorhome had been parked for sale at the location and was destroyed in the blaze.
On September 21st, 2013 at 1:56 am, an Osoyoos RCMP officer on patrol noted a car going backwards down an alley off 78th St for no apparent reason. The 2011 Volkswagon Jetta was pulled over and the driver was found to have an odor of liquor on his breath and admitted to drinking previously. The driver was required to provide breath samples for analysis which resulted in 2 “warn” readings. The 24 year old man from Osoyoos received a 3 day Immediate Roadside Prohibition.
On September 21st, 2013, Police conducted a road check for impaired drivers on Hwy 3 near Cottonwood Drive. At 10:20 pm a Toyota Corolla was stopped and the female driver displayed signs of being impaired by alcohol. The driver was required to provide breath samples which resulted in 2 “Fail” readings. As a result the 40 year old female from Osoyoos received a 90 day Immediate Roadside Prohibition and her car was impounded for 30 days.
On September 23rd, 2013 at 2:30 am, an Osoyoos RCMP officer on patrol observed a white 2008 Ford truck commit several motor vehicle infractions. The truck was stopped at 78th Ave and 87th St, and the driver was noted to have been drinking. The man was required to provide breath samples which resulted in 2 “Warn” readings. The 36 year old man from Osoyoos received a 3 day Immediate Roadside Prohibition and his truck was impounded for 3 days.
