Two daughters of A.E. Reid commissioned a well known artist to paint a picture of the historic Southern Okanagan High School built in 1948 but destroyed by fire in 2011.
A.E. (Ed) Reid was vice-Principal of the High School in Oliver from 1948 to 1956 and Principal 1956 to 1967.
The rendering was completed by Bill Ross who has designed many versions of the same subject in black line drawing style. It will be hung in the new SOSS to remind students and visitors of the history of high schools in Oliver and commemorate the years of service of A. E. Reid.
Picture above: Bev (Reid) Frisbey and Lynn (Reid) George at far right. Lynn is in black.
Left to right: Artist Bill Ross, Superintendent Bev Young, former maintenance worker Matt Zeeman, School Board Chair Marieze Tarr, SOSS vice-Principal Tracy Harrington and the two “Reids”.
After this presentation former school grads met at Fairview Mtn. Golf Course lounge for lunch and story telling.
