Three men giving Okanagan Valley addresses riding in two separate vehicles were arrested during an early morning road check today after police found a significant quantity of drugs and cash.

At about 12:45 a.m., an Oliver man, 33, was pulled over in his black Mazda sedan on the Bennett Bridge and was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. RCMP seized nearly 1.5 lbs of marijuana and drug paraphernalia during a search of the car.

Moments later, police stopped a Ford Flex. A Peachland man, 25, and Vernon man, 40, were arrested. Police found 2.6 ounces of powder cocaine, 3.6 ounces of crystal meth, $2,000 and six cell phones.

“It is great, proactive work like this, that our members are doing daily, that helps stem the flow of drugs into our community,” Supt. Nick Romanchuck, the officer in charge of the Kelowna RCMP stated in a press release. “Their dedication to the communities in which they live and serve is evidenced by their efforts to keep the Okanagan safe.”

All three men face potential charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking. They have since been released on a promise to appear in court at a later date. No names released.
