This land bought by the Town sometime ago for a new state of the art Fire Station. Sign has been up for a bit – weathered.

Mayor Stu Wells says if all goes well in 2014 – construction could be started that year or in 2015.

The purchase of the land was made from a reserve but the money needed for construction of a new building will need voter assent. Wells says voters will be given a chance to say yes in the form of a counter-petition which allows taxpayer to request a vote…..or not.

If 10 percent of the population say a vote is necessary then the financial question will be given to the voters November 2014 along with the municipal election.

If less than 10% of the voters sign a petition – then the fire hall gets the go ahead.
