A police take down in Penticton – saw a prolific offender charged with possessing drugs and assault weapons with one officer injured with a broken wrist.
RCMP seized a 9mm handgun, a semi-automatic assault rifle, a sack full of ammunition and various drugs during the arrest.
Andrew Robert Hardenstine, 33, was arrested last Tuesday at an apartment building in the 100 block of Roy Avenue. He was seen entering the building with a rifle, draped in a cloth, sticking out of his backpack. When he left the building a short time later, officers closed in, but Hardenstine attempted to flee on a motorcycle.
An officer was able to knock over the bike and Hardenstine was arrested with the help of several members of the RCMP – one of whom broke their wrist during the arrest.
The items seized from Hardenstine and his backpack include: •An SKS semi automatic assault rifle with a folding stock •A loaded 9mm handgun with laser sight and silencer capabilities •A plastic bottle containing approximately 100 ml of GHB •50 shotgun shells, 73 – 9mm rounds, and 10 long gun rifle rounds
More drugs found inside the home after a search warrant executed.
Investigators said that the motorcycle seized was stolen from McLure B.C.
He is facing 11 charges and has been placed in custody in Kamloops. No date for a video court session is available.

Police are on the hunt for 33-year-old Andrew Robert Hardenstine — a federal parolee unlawfully at large from a community-based residential facility in Kamloops. He’s been gone since January 14th.
Hardenstine was serving a three-year, eight-month sentence on two convictions for possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking and a weapons related offence when he was released on parole to the outside facility in early January according to police.
Hardenstine is five feet nine inches and weighs about 200 pounds. He has a shaved head (brown hair) and blue eyes. The top of his left ring finger and left little finger are amputated and he has a full “sleeve” tattoo on his left and right arm.
Hardenstine’s lengthy criminal record includes incidents of violence, police said. The public is warned not to approach him.
