Helen Bauder
June 15, 1926 – September 6, 2013
Helen Emelia Bauder, age 87, of Oliver passed away September 6th in Osoyoos.
Mrs. Bauder was born in Vanguard, Saskatchewan on June 15, 1926. She was one of 12 children born to Phillip and Susan Besler. Helen married Gustave Bauder on June 24, 1946 in Oliver, B.C. Gus and Helen were married for 61 years.
Helen was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #97. She received a Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of more than 50 years of service.
She worked in the Oliver Sawmills Ltd Box Factory with her good friend Mabel Thornton for close to 20 years. Helen then worked alongside her sister Mary, in the Haynes Cooperative Growers Packing House for many years. While working and raising her three children, Helen still managed to find time to make applestrudel and have turkey dinners for her family including her famous cabbage rolls and coleslaw.
Helen and Gus enjoyed taking their grandchildren camping and on fishing trips. Conkle Lake, Haynes Point, and Oroville, Washington were just a few of the places they liked to go. One of the things Helen will be remembered for is living on Rockcliffe Road in Oliver, B.C. with their peaches and prune orchard.
Helen was predeceased by her parents, 10 siblings and husband Gus Bauder.
Helen is survived by her children Elaine (Cliff), Don (Lynne), Fernie; her grandchildren, Dana (Mitch), Daren, Lynda (Mark), Ryan (Jennifer), Aaron (Desirae), Kyle (Leanne); Great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Amy, Sara, Jesse, Garrett, Kenzie, Tate, Karsen, Savannah, Ella, Holly as well as one Great-Great-granddaughter, Chloe.
At the request of Helen there will be no service.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Mariposa Gardens for their support in her final days and to Everden Rust Funeral Services & Crematorium.
