“Mo” (Maurizio) Basso comes from a large Italian family of nine brothers and sisters. He grew up in Prince Rupert where he married his high school sweetheart, Marji. Mo has lived with his family in Oliver for 17 years and is a high school teacher at SOSS. He is a long-time coach of the Senior Boys’ Basketball team, and believes strongly that sports provide youth with structure, commitment, and character.

Mo has always taught the importance of politics and community involvement in his classroom, and now looks forward to participating in local politics as well. To put it into coaching terms, Mo believes that Oliver needs a stronger game plan in order to compete with the less Provincial and Federal dollars. Although he supports fiscal responsibility, Mo wants to see Oliver get more assertive with what it has to offer so that our businesses, schools, and hospital not just sustain, but excel.
