On September 8th, 2013, at approximately 00:23 Hrs., Oliver RCMP were notified of a suspicious occurrence at a residence located in the 600 block of Earle Crescent.
The 59 year old female occupant contacted emergency services to report that some someone had sprayed an irritating substance inside her residence. Initial scene investigation resulted in the location of a canister of Bear Spray, wrapped in electrical tape, in close proximity to the residence. The occupant was subsequently treated by EHS for exposure to the Bear Spray.
Initial police investigation has resulted in the arrest of a 19 year old male Oliver resident for Break and Enter, Commit Mischief , Assault offences. The suspect has since appeared before a Justice of the Peace and will be appearing on October 02nd at Provincial Court in Penticton. He was released.
This residence was subject of much media attention as a result of an exploded IED complaint, reported on August 12th. At this point, it does not appear that the two incidents are related.
