When a home is targeted twice in about a month – the media report on it and new details indicate that the canister found in the 600 block Earle Crescent contained a gas, heavier than air, and it moved down Hollow Street and affected a number of residents.
At least one person treated at hospital and released. Complaints included scratchy throat, watery eyes etc.
Rob Graham met media near the scene of the overnight incident to update reporters. Graham says the fire department was first on the scene so was the lead agency until police called in to investigate. Ambulance crews were concerned as to whether the site was contaminated.
Graham was asked if the neighbourhood should worry about two incidents in such a short time and responded by saying it is up to the RCMP investigators to comment on that.
12:1o a.m. Sunday Fire, ambulance and police called to the same site of the August 11th pipe bomb incident in which a car was damaged and shrapnel flew into neighbouring homes.
Graham said two residents of the home were overcome with fumes when a canister of what is thought to be “bear spray” was thrown in a back door. Those people ran to a next door neighbour for help and called 911.
Graham says the canister was found in the house by fireman wearing air masks and RCMP directed to it.
Once again this quiet neighbourhood disturbed by a criminal act.
