Twenty-one riders and six support people from RCMP and supporting enforcement agencies within South East District will embark on this year’s annual Cops for Kids Ride on Friday, Sept 6.
The 2013 Ride will take the team across the South portion of BC to raise awareness and essential funds for children in medical, physical or traumatic crisis.
The send-off breakfast will be hosted by the Sandman Hotel Kelowna where sponsors, supporters, media and our Little Ambassadors will be on hand to meet the team before they embark Friday their 10-day journey.
At 9 a.m. the team will be led out of Kelowna on Highway 97 South for the start of the 2013 trek.
Over the ten-day journey, Cops for Kids riders will cycle into 18 different communities across Southeastern BC, where they will be welcomed by local hotels, restaurants and service clubs who come together to offer their hospitality at little or no cost. Saving on these costs allows the group to put their efforts towards the children who need it most.
Ride captain, Cpl. Brian Burke, says the team has come together to make a difference for local children.
“They’ve all been training and fundraising all summer, and now they come together as a team to ride rain or shine to raise even more money and awareness for children in our region,” says Burke
