Time to lock up Park Place – with final preparations in progress this week with all water being drained from the building’s water and sewer systems – and telephone lines being disconnected.
One unit is occupied until Friday – a couple of suites have furniture left in them but that will all be gone shortly.
It’s sad but even more frustrating the owners had hoped by now that the building could be turned over to the insurance company – to do the work needed to fix the apartment complex. But no word yet. Two engineers reviewed the building for the insurance company, one soil and one structural.
Stuart Syme, spokesman for the owners says within a week everyone will be gone but the building is equipped with highly sophisticated security systems and there will be daily monitoring of access points.
The building owners will meet next Tuesday for an annual general meeting and to hear the latest updates. A new executive is set to be elected.
40 people who lived in the building now accommodated elsewhere for the duration.
