Latest word from Town of Oliver is this:
Boil Water Notice – Update August 28, 2013
The Town of Oliver is still on a BOIL WATER NOTICE for Domestic Water Customers In-Town and Rural areas North of Town due to recent water turbidity issues with their drinking water.
Increased water testing will continue until there is confidence in the water quality so that Interior Health may allow the boil water notice to be lifted.
A high turbidity level may impair the effectiveness of the disinfection treatment system. If disinfection is impaired, disease-causing microorganisms may survive in the water distribution system resulting in an increased risk of intestinal illness. People with undeveloped or severely weakened immune systems, infants and elderly may be at increased risk.
Water users are advised to bring all water to a rolling boil for at least one minute and let it cool before using it or, use bottled water. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth and food preparation until further notice. We will inform you when you no longer need to boil your water.
