This is the window that needed to be broken to assist a young boy out of fire in a trailer this afternoon at Oliver Centennial Park.
The older model camper trailer burst into flames about 4:20 this afternoon and an ambulance was seen rushing from the area about 4:30 with fire truck arriving on the scene. Condition of the child is not known.
Apparently the first emergency person on the scene was Fire Chief Dan Skaros who when interviewed was getting a check up from ambulance personnel. He had broken in the trailer to get the child out – believed to be in the age range of 10-12. No names given out. His parents apparently fairly close to the trailer but not at the time of the ignition of the fire.
The Fire Chief suffered some abrasions but he was most concerned with the victim who he said had taken in a lot of smoke during the ordeal.
Damage was extensive on the camper. It is not known whether this was a tourist family or a group here for the season.
Fire Department, Ambulances and police on the scene. More later.
