Town crews have stripped off the paint on the west crosswalk on Fairview Rd at Spartan Street at the back of SOSS.

A lot of students use this area to access school – coming from the Rockcliffe/Fairviw area and from below at Columbia Place/Acre Lots area.

Here is one complaint and one response: Neighbour – “just wondering why we only have three marked crosswalks on our corner now….? If it is meant to funnel walkers to the eastern most crosswalk, it isn’t working.”

Public Works: “We are eliminating the one crosswalk and steering people (mostly kids/teenagers) to the one crossing because they seemed to cut across the road more on the west side of the intersection anyways. This change would never eliminate all of it.”

A bit confusing – time will tell. My suggestion is one crosswalk each way – the most convenient and do that with the understanding that people of all ages take the shortest route to get to their destination.
