On August 19th, 2013, Police received a report that the front entrance sign to the Dairy Queen had been smashed sometime overnight. Anyone with information on this mischief is asked to contact the Osoyoos RCMP.
On August 19th, 2013, at approximately 5:30 pm, the Osoyoos RCMP was called by BC Forestry Fire Control to assist Forestry and the Osoyoos Fire Department with a large wildfire off of Kruger Mtn Rd near Old Richter Pass Rd. Initially all of the houses along Kruger Mtn Rd were evacuated for their own safety as the fire spread down the hill behind their houses, however the efforts of workers including water-bomber planes and helicopters were able to subdue the flames and the residents were allowed to later return. This fire is currently being investigated by BC Forestry.
On August 20th, 2013, at approximately 3:00 pm, Police were advised that over the previous 2 hours someone had broken out a window from a Blue Honda car parked by Rattlesnake Canyon and had stolen a wallet and a purse from the car. Police would like to remind visitors and locals to either not leave valuables in vehicles or to ensure all items of value are kept out of site when left inside vehicles. There has been a rash of thefts from boats over the last month in the Osoyoos area. Thieves are targeting boats both moored on the lake and trailered boats parked overnight. In addition to lose items such as wake boards the thieves are stealing stereos and stereo equipment such as amplifiers and speakers.
On August 21st, 2013, a theft of a boat stereo and speakers overnight from a boat moored on the lake was reported.
On August 22nd, 2013, Clarion amplifiers were stolen overnight from a boat which had been parked on the 5400 Block of Lakeshore Drive.
On August 25th, 2013, Police received a report of numerous thefts of stereo equipment from a number of boats on Osoyoos Lake near the Oasis RV Resort. In all 7 boats had been entered by thieves over night and most had stereo equipment stolen including:
– a 2001 black and tan Malibu Wakesetter had 3 amplifiers stolen
– a 2004 yellow and red Malibu Response had an Audison amplifier stolen
– a 2011 silver and black Sport Natique had a Clarion COM6 deck and 4 Polk Audio speakers stolen as well as damage to the ignition and dash
– a 2011 Sylvan Pontoon boat had an amplifier and speakers
– a 2010 white Larson boat had the stereo removed from the dash
– a 2008 blue and white Mastercraft boat was rummaged through
– a1993 red Centurion boat was also entered
