When the town changed to metering our water I was all in favour of that. I grew up in an area where that was the case and believe in user pay and it makes people think twice before they leave the water running. One of the downsides is that some people are just not watering their yards nor doing anything to improve the look of them by at least keeping the weeds down. This is sad as it certainly has an impact on their neighbours, not only visually but as far as their home value is concerned. I understand that one cannot be legislated to water their lawn, and if they feel they can’t afford it I understand that too but there are things you can do so the weed seeds don’t fly and end up in your neighbours yard and it looks better. Our local nurseries have beatiful grasses that need little or no water at reasonable prices.
Having said that, I can’t believe that Park Place management has decided not to water since the damage in the building was found. There were thousands of dollars of beautiful plants that have just been left to die. Why not let people come and dig them out? There are two beautiful Japanese Maples that frame the front door that would be worth hundreds to replace and there they sit, without water. I understand that someone watered some last week, too little too late for most of the plant. When asked they said they don’t know if it is going to be torn down…….and that makes a difference how????
Thanks for letting me vent. We have a beautiful town, I hate to see it looking shabby.
