A new restaurant in Osoyoos is one step closer to completion following a granted Development Variance Permit (DVP), whereby the number of parking stalls required at the establishment was reduced from 13 to 7.
The building on 74th Ave (at 85th) was previously operated as a restaurant called the Chalet Helvetia and before that it was a Swiss Chalet. For the past few years it has been used as an office space for former MLA John Slater. The proposed new restaurant will be larger in size and will include a new modern kitchen and revised floor plan.
Charles Perrutel and his wife Johanne Dupont, who plan to open the restaurant, also want to construct a 375 square foot addition to the South side of the building, for a total of 50 seats.
“It would be great to have that restaurant there,” said Mayor Stu Wells. “If it goes ahead it’s going to be a great addition.”
