“NEWSFLASH! BACK ALLEY CONCERT UPDATE! BAND CHANGE”
This just in. We at the Firehall Brewery have received extremely unfortunate news that Dan Harden, the lead vocalist and guitarist of Kelowna’s “MALIBU KNIGHTS”, was in an accident last night, and so the band will be out of commission for 6 weeks. The Malibu Knights were set to play the season finale BACK ALLEY CONCERT here at the Firehall Brewery tomorrow night (Saturday, August 24th).
There is some good news. First, we are very glad that Dan’s accident was not worse, and we wish him a speedy recovery. Secondly, the Malibu Knights have agreed to open our Back Alley Concert Series next summer of 2014. And third, we have been able to secure a replacement band: Oliver’s own “GREAT WHITE NORTH”. With the splitting of the band “Tusk Mountain” in 2011, Mike Szalay set out a plan to reintroduce himself as a solo artist under the name Great White North. With the forthcoming release of songs off of the debut album, audiences will be familiarized with sounds stemming both from hard-hitting past projects such as Tusk Mountain, as well as a new softer side which has grown off of experience as a solo singer-songwriter. Great White North is an alternative folk rock band, featuring a rotating cast of backup musicians, artists and friends. Check it out: http://greatwhitenorthmusic.
