Most of you know where the Kiwanis Market is and you probably know that the items for sale are donated, Kiwanis does not buy anything for sale. After whatever expenses are entailed in the operation of the Market, Kiwanians and non-Kiwanian volunteers offer their services at no cost, so just where does that money go?
Each year the Kiwanis Club of Oliver Board of Directors submits a budget to the Club, this includes proposed fundraising income (mainly from the Market) and expenses and donations for the coming year. Obviously the donations are directly related to what the Club collected the previous year.
We cannot assume we will make “X” number of dollars in the coming year. Our financial year ends on September 30, so where did the money go this year (2012-13)? Here is a listing of organizations, groups and individuals that have received support from the Kiwanis Club of Oliver this year:
