RECREATION FACILITIES ATTENDANT 1 (Temporary)
The Oliver Parks and Recreation Society is seeking applications for a temporary 2-year full time Recreation Facilities Attendant 1 (RFA 1) position.
The successful applicant will be involved with the operation and maintenance for the arena and ice surface September through to mid March. During the ice-out season the incumbent will be required to work outside, maintaining the outdoor swimming pool and our four community parks.
Candidates must possess a Basic Safety Awareness certificate, Pool Operators Level 1 a valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s License and a minimum of three years’ experience in arena, pool operations, irrigation systems, turf maintenance and the uses and maintenance of outdoor power equipment. Ice Facility Operator (IFO) and/or Refrigeration Operator (RO) certificate are preferred. Pesticide Spray Application certification, WHMIS training and First Aid certification would be an asset.
Working respectfully with the public and efficiently under minimal supervision are important aspects of this position.
This is a CUPE union position with a starting wage of $22.76 per hour plus 6% in lieu of benefits during the probation period and 14% in lieu of benefits upon completion of the probation period. The successful applicant will work a 40-hour work week on rotating shifts (weekdays, weekends and evenings) throughout the ice season.
The Oliver Parks & Recreation Society reserves the right to lengthen or shorten the term of this assignment based on department needs and budgetary constraints.
