To keep the fruit flies off your peaches and pears…….pour one half inch of Merlot in to a little bowl, drop a nice peach pit in to the center and place it on your kitchen window sill.
Gives them something to sit on while at the bar, and they will be so busy getting drunk they will forget about your fruit.

Has worked for me for quite a few years now.
