A 57 year old man from Osoyoos had just received cash from the bank and placed it in his front shirt pocket before getting into his vehicle. A female approached the man and reached through his driver’s side window in an unsuccessful attempt to steal the cash from the shirt pocket. The female fled the area getting into a Burgundy pickup truck. Police made extensive patrols for the suspect female who is described as being skinny, approximately 40 years of age, long curly brown hair, tanned and wearing a purple tank top and beige jeans at the time. Police are actively investigating this incident for criminal charges.
On August 8th, 2013, Police were called to the Osoyoos Marina for a report of an impaired driver operating a boat and a vehicle. Witnesses saw the man drive his boat to the dock and warned him not to drive believing him to be intoxicated after seeing the man urinate on his truck tire and noting he smelled strongly of alcohol. The man ignored the advice and a South Okanagan Traffic Services officer arrived at the marina to observe the 51 year old Oliver man attempting to line up his truck and boat trailer at the boat launch. The driver of the truck was required to provide samples of his breath for analysis which resulted in 2 failed breath sample readings. The man received a 90 day Immediate Roadside Driving Prohibition and his truck was impounded or 30 days. As he had been observed driving a boat he was subject to a Criminal Code charge or Operating a Vessel while Impaired. Had Police chosen to pursue this charge the man would have been subject to a court appearance and a criminal record and driving prohibition upon conviction.
