An application has been made by a person in BC Provincial court for something called an 810.2 order – Peace Bond.
In essence the crown on behalf of a person who is in some fear has filed an information at the Penticton court.
Former Oliver resident, Ronald Arthur Teneycke, 51 who lives with his mother in Okanagan Falls is named in the sworn information and the facts of the application have not been heard and no determination made on such a peace bond.
Teneycke has a record of sexual assaults and police have expressed concern about his presence in the South Okanagan. He was arrested and had a court appearance June 26th on this latest information (fear of serious personal injury). Conditions of his recognisance were altered Wednesday.
A peace bond application is not considered a charge.
Teneycke is out on his own recognizance with his next court appearance September 25th.
810.2 (1) Any person who fears on reasonable grounds that another person will commit a serious personal injury offence, as that expression is defined in section 752, may, with the consent of the Attorney General, lay an information before a provincial court judge, whether or not the person or persons in respect of whom it is feared that the offence will be committed are named.
Duration extended
(3.1) If the provincial court judge is also satisfied that the defendant was convicted previously of an offence referred to in subsection (1), the judge may order that the defendant enter into the recognizance for a period that does not exceed two years.
